Immediate Start
£65k - £70k Annual
Full-Time
Senior Cost Manager | Client-Side Consultancy | National Grid Framework
Location: Porthmadog, North Wales
Working pattern: Hybrid, 2 days per week on-site / in the project office
Salary: £70,000 basic + car / car allowance + package
Sector: Power, energy, utilities and major infrastructure
The Resolute Group has been retained to secure a Senior Cost Manager for a leading client-side construction and infrastructure consultancy supporting major National Grid power and energy infrastructure programmes.
This is a consultancy-side role, embedded within a major client programme. The successful candidate will work closely with National Grid, contractors, consultants and programme stakeholders to support the commercial control of major infrastructure packages.
The Opportunity
This is a long-term opportunity to work on a major National Grid Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) programme, supporting electricity transmission and grid reinforcement works across the North Wales / North West region.
The programme is linked to the wider upgrade of the UK electricity network and involves high-value infrastructure packages across transmission upgrades, substations, overhead lines, underground cabling, enabling works and wider civil engineering delivery.
The role would suit a commercially strong Senior Cost Manager, Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior QS) or Commercial Manager who wants to move into a more client-side, programme-led consultancy environment while staying close to major infrastructure delivery.
This is not a contractor-side site role. It is a broader commercial management position supporting client-side governance, reporting, assurance and commercial control.
What You'll Be Doing
You will support the commercial management of major infrastructure packages from a client-side consultancy position, working closely with client teams, contractors, consultants and programme stakeholders.
Typical responsibilities will include:
Commercial reporting, forecasting and budget management
New Engineering Contract (NEC) contract administration
Change control and compensation event support
Reviewing contractor submissions, valuations and commercial reports
Managing commercial risk, cost visibility and programme-level reporting
Supporting Applications for Payment, Defined Cost reviews and forecast assurance
Working with senior stakeholders across client, consultancy and contractor teams
Helping maintain commercial control across a long-term regulated infrastructure programme
Providing commercial input that supports client decision-making and programme governance
The Projects
The work is connected to major UK electricity transmission and energy infrastructure delivery, supporting the expansion and reinforcement of the power network.
This includes infrastructure required to improve grid capacity, strengthen system resilience and support the connection of new generation, including renewable energy.
The programme environment is high-value, highly governed and long-term, with work aligned to nationally significant infrastructure across England and Wales.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone with:
Quantity Surveying (QS), cost management or commercial management experience
Strong New Engineering Contract (NEC) exposure, ideally NEC3 or NEC4
Infrastructure, utilities, rail, highways, aviation, water, energy, power or heavy civils experience
Strong cost reporting, forecasting and change control experience
Ability to work in a client-facing, consultancy or programme-side environment
Good stakeholder management and commercial governance capability
Experience working with contractors, consultants or client organisations on major projects
Power or National Grid experience is useful, but not essential. Strong transferable commercial infrastructure experience is the key requirement.
Why Apply?
This is a strong move for someone who wants to step into a more client-side consultancy role on a nationally significant infrastructure programme.
You will gain exposure to a long-cycle regulated programme, work close to senior client and delivery teams, and support one of the UK's most important energy investment programmes.
It would suit someone who wants major project exposure, stronger client-side visibility and a broader commercial role than a purely site-based contractor position.
Interested?
Please note: candidates must be living and working in the UK to be considered for this position.
Unfortunately, this opportunity is not able to offer visa sponsorship.
To apply, please submit your application through this advert or contact Phil Crew via LinkedIn. Alternatively, you can contact The Resolute Group directly on (phone number removed) after you have submitted your CV.
