We're partnering with an ambitious and rapidly evolving financial services organisation embarking on a significant technology transformation journey.

This is a rare opportunity for a strategic and hands-on Chief Technology Officer to define and lead a next-generation technology platform, helping position the business as a data and platform-driven fintech within the UK market.

This role goes far beyond traditional IT leadership. You'll be responsible for architecting a modern financial infrastructure that enables scalable growth, seamless partner integration, and the evolution towards digitised and programmable financial products.

As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, you'll influence business strategy, engage with board-level stakeholders, and drive a technology agenda focused on innovation, scalability, resilience, and commercial value.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Define and execute a forward-looking technology and platform strategy
  • Drive the evolution of an API-first, cloud-native, modular architecture
  • Lead infrastructure modernisation and platform transformation initiatives
  • Identify and adopt emerging technologies aligned to business objectives
  • Build a future-ready technology ecosystem capable of supporting significant growth

Engineering, Data & Product Leadership

  • Establish modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automation and reliability engineering
  • Create an environment that enables faster product delivery and innovation
  • Position data as a strategic asset across the business
  • Develop data platform strategy, governance frameworks and API layer design
  • Drive automation of manual and spreadsheet-based operational processes
  • Lead workforce planning, capability development and engineering maturity initiatives

Security, Resilience & Regulatory Excellence

  • Own platform resilience, availability and operational stability
  • Lead cybersecurity strategy and information security maturity programmes
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory expectations and governance frameworks
  • Oversee vendor relationships, service quality and strategic technology partnerships
  • Drive best practice around risk management, penetration testing, patching and security controls

Platform Integration & Future Technology

  • Lead large-scale platform integration programmes
  • Define API governance standards and integration frameworks
  • Manage technical relationships with external partners and platforms
  • Explore future technologies and digital infrastructure opportunities where commercially viable

Executive Leadership

  • Contribute to overall business strategy as a member of the Executive Team
  • Translate complex technology initiatives into clear commercial outcomes
  • Present technology strategy and progress to senior stakeholders and board members
  • Build a modern, inclusive and high-performing technology culture

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a CTO or senior technology executive within fintech, financial services, pensions, wealth management or another regulated environment
  • Strong track record of defining and delivering technology transformation programmes
  • Experience building and scaling modern cloud-native platforms
  • Deep expertise across engineering, architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity and data platforms
  • Strong understanding of API-led integration strategies and platform ecosystems
  • Experience leading large engineering teams through growth and organisational change
  • Ability to balance innovation with operational excellence and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience engaging at Executive and Board level

Highly Desirable

  • Experience within investment platforms, wealth management, pensions, asset management or broader financial services
  • Exposure to modern financial infrastructure, digital assets, tokenisation or emerging fintech technologies
  • Strong knowledge of regulated environments and governance frameworks

If you're a technology leader who enjoys combining strategic vision with practical execution and are excited by the opportunity to build modern financial infrastructure, we'd love to speak with you.
