Electrical Project Engineer
Overview
An experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in heavy manufacturing environments, providing professional engineering support to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production facilities. Experienced in managing engineering projects from concept through to completion, with a focus on continuous improvement, safety compliance, cost control, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Support manufacturing operations by delivering high-quality electrical engineering solutions across rolling mills, remelt facilities, saws, and mobile plant equipment.
* Drive improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
* Lead and manage engineering projects, including equipment upgrades, installations, and process improvements.
* Develop and review engineering specifications in line with British Standards, industry codes of practice, and company standards.
* Manage project budgets, financial controls, procurement activities, and contractor performance.
* Review technical drawings, engineering documentation, and supplier tender submissions.
* Coordinate project implementation, commissioning, training, and handover activities.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental requirements, including CDM regulations, HAZOP studies, confined space controls, and contractor management procedures.
* Collaborate effectively with production, maintenance, and external stakeholders to deliver engineering objectives.
Skills & Experience
* HND or BSc in Electrical Engineering.
* Experience working within heavy manufacturing, metals, process, or industrial production environments.
* Knowledge of electrical control systems and industrial automation.
* Understanding of mechanical engineering principles and equipment operation.
* Experience with project management, budget control, procurement, and contractor management.
* Competent in Microsoft Project and enterprise budget management systems.
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Inventor.
* Ability to interpret and review engineering drawings and technical documentation.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Proven commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practices
