Location: Teesside

Salary: £60k - £70k base + car

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

The Company

Our client are a well-established and rapidly growing civil engineering, groundworks, and plant hire contractor delivering high-quality infrastructure and construction projects across the North East. With a strong reputation for excellence, safety, and reliability, they work with leading developers, main contractors, and public sector clients on projects ranging from residential and commercial developments to highways and infrastructure works.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team and play a key role in managing the financial performance of multiple groundworks and civil engineering projects.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with operational teams, clients, and subcontractors, you will ensure projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong commercial controls and contractual compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple groundworks and civil engineering projects.

Prepare, submit, and negotiate interim valuations and final accounts.

Monitor project costs, budgets, cash flow, and profitability.

Identify, value, and manage variations and compensation events.

Produce accurate cost reports and forecasts for senior management.

Procure subcontractors and suppliers, including negotiation of terms and agreements.

Assess and process subcontractor applications and payments.

Ensure compliance with contract conditions and company procedures.

Support project teams with commercial advice and risk management.

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.

Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors where required.

Requirements

Essential

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.

Minimum 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role within groundworks, civil engineering, or infrastructure sectors.

Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.

Strong analytical and financial management capabilities.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial management software.

Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

Experience within residential infrastructure and groundworks packages.

Knowledge of plant hire and self-delivery civil engineering operations.
