About the Company
Our client is a growing and ambitious main contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality projects across a range of sectors. With a healthy pipeline of secured and upcoming work throughout London, they are looking to strengthen their Design Management team by appointing an Assistant Design Manager.
The Role
Working closely with experienced Design Managers and project teams, the Assistant Design Manager will support the coordination and management of the design process from pre-construction through to project completion. The successful candidate will gain exposure to all aspects of design management, working alongside consultants, subcontractors, clients, and site teams to ensure design information is delivered accurately and on programme.
This role offers a structured pathway for professional development and progression within a growing contractor.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in managing the design process across multiple construction projects.
Support the review and coordination of design information from consultants and subcontractors.
Monitor design programmes and track the timely production of design deliverables.
Attend and contribute to design team meetings, recording actions and following up on outstanding items.
Help identify design risks, clashes, and coordination issues, supporting their resolution.
Liaise with site teams to ensure design information is understood and issued correctly.
Assist with the management of Requests for Information (RFIs), technical submissions, and design approvals.
Review drawings, specifications, and technical documentation for completeness and buildability.
Help with Gateway 2 and Gateway 3 submissions
Support compliance with project requirements, building regulations, and client standards.
Maintain accurate design records and document control procedures.
Candidate Requirements
We are keen to speak with candidates from a variety of construction and design backgrounds, including:
NVQ Level 3 qualified construction professionals or above, part 1 Architectural Assistants, Part 2 Architectural Assistants, Recent architecture, architectural technology, or construction graduates.
