Avove is proud to be a key delivery partner to United Utilities, supporting the design and delivery of essential clean water and wastewater infrastructure and non‑infrastructure projects across the Northwest. As our programme continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager — ideally someone with previous water/wastewater experience in the water utility industry — to lead the end‑to‑end delivery of multiple projects across the account.
This is a key leadership role where you will guide a team of Project Managers, collaborate with supply chain partners, and work closely with United Utilities, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient and high‑quality delivery.
What you’ll be doing...
* Leading and developing Project Managers to maximise performance
* Overseeing delivery and financial performance across a portfolio of work
* Identifying risks early and implementing corrective actions
* Planning, coordinating and supervising all project activities
* Ensuring compliance with Avove’s Work Together, Safe Together ethos
* Managing change control, commercial inputs and supplier quotations
* Ensuring project scope, design acceptance and risk management plans are in place
* Maintaining quality assurance and consistent application of procedures
* Building strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners and internal teams
* Conducting site visits, attending management meetings and providing expert solutions
* Signing off supply chain work and contributing to final accounts
About you...
* Previous experience in the water/wastewater sector within the water utility industry
* Proven experience managing large‑scale, complex projects end‑to‑end
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders
* Solid understanding of programme delivery processes and HSEQ legislation
* Financially aware with experience managing and controlling budgets
* Practical knowledge of NEC forms of contract
* Experience managing, coaching and developing teams
* SMSTS, Prince2/APMP and a full UK driving licence
* HNC/Degree, NEBOSH/IOSH or NEC PMA accreditation
