Smile Education are recruiting for an IT Technician to join a successful secondary school in Redditch. This is a full-time position with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
The Role:
As an IT Technician, your responsibilities will include providing technical support to staff and students, maintaining IT equipment and networks, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the school's IT systems.
Responsibilities:
• Provide first-line technical support to staff and students across the school.
• Install, configure and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers and other IT equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and network issues.
• Support the maintenance and development of the school's IT infrastructure.
• Assist with user account administration, password resets and access permissions.
• Ensure all IT equipment is functioning effectively and report any recurring issues.
• Support classroom technology and audiovisual equipment as required.
• Maintain accurate records of IT assets, repairs and support requests.
• Assist with software installations, updates and system maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with school policies relating to IT security and data protection.
Requirements:
• Previous experience working in an IT support or technician role.
• Good knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 and common educational software.
• Understanding of computer hardware, networking and troubleshooting techniques.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant IT qualifications are desirable but not essential.
• Subject to Enhanced DBS Check / satisfactory references.
