Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking a highly motivated and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our valued partner secondary schools in Northampton. This is an exciting temporary-to-permanent opportunity for a confident individual who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will work closely with secondary-aged students who have high-functioning autism and physical disabilities, providing both academic and pastoral support throughout the school day. You will play a key role in helping students access learning, develop independence, build confidence, and achieve positive outcomes in a supportive educational environment.

We are looking for someone who is resilient, adaptable, and able to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. You must be confident in managing a range of needs and be able to use your initiative to support students effectively, both in and out of the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEN.
Support students with high-functioning autism and physical disabilities in accessing the curriculum.
Encourage independence, social development, and positive behaviour.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
Assist with mobility and physical support where required.
Maintain accurate records and contribute to student progress reviews.
Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment at all times.Essential Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
Strong understanding of autism and additional learning needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A proactive, patient, and confident approach.
Sound knowledge of child safeguarding procedures and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people while securing a long-term career within a supportive school environment.
