A growing international technology group operating across several international sites is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead financial operations across its UK and European entities. We’re looking for a senior finance professional who can combine technical excellence with leadership and operational oversight.

With a strong heritage, this group is building a unified financial platform to support its next phase of expansion.

The Opportunity

As the most senior finance leader in Europe, the Financial Controller will oversee all financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with group standards. This role is pivotal in strengthening internal controls, driving reporting excellence, and supporting strategic financial initiatives across the group.

You will manage a small team, partner closely with the VP for Finance, and act as a key steward of financial integrity across two jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Group Support

Act as deputy to the VP Finance when required.
Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting for UK and European entities.
Support delivery of group‑wide strategic finance initiatives.
Drive cash generation and financial discipline across both regions.
European – Financial Ownership

Lead all accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, and month‑end close.
Produce monthly and annual financial statements in line with GAAP.
Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Provide operational cashflow reporting and forecasting.
Oversee payroll data submission and contract‑driven billing processes.
Liaise with local advisors to ensure full compliance with local regulations.
UK – Oversight & Governance

Manage and mentor the UK Finance Manager and Finance Assistant.
Oversee preparation of monthly and annual financial statements under UK GAAP.
Ensure all UK regulatory and statutory obligations are met.
ERP Ownership & Process Improvement

Own the UK & European ERP environment, including SOP development and staff training.
Continuously evaluate workflows for compliance and efficiency.
Identify automation opportunities to enhance accuracy and scalability.
About you:

ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
Strong understanding of UK GAAP;
Experience implementing or maintaining ERP systems.
10+ years’ progressive accounting experience, ideally in multi‑entity or group environments.
Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.
Clear communicator capable of translating complex issues for non‑finance stakeholders.
Flexible, collaborative, and comfortable in a hands‑on environment.
Preferred Experience

Project accounting and management reporting.
M&A exposure (buy or sell side).
Ability to interpret local regulations and convert them into practical internal policies.
