Job Title: Mechanical Inspector
Location: Eastleigh
Hourly Rate: £17.86 per hour PAYE / £23.83 per hour umbrella
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join a growing engineering/manufacturing business. This role is focused on ensuring all components and assemblies meet required specifications and quality standards before release to production or customer. You’ll play a key part in maintaining product integrity, working closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams.
Key responsibilities for the Mechanical Inspector:
Inspect mechanical components and assemblies against engineering drawings and specifications
Carry out dimensional checks using equipment such as verniers, micrometers, and gauges
Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection to ensure quality standards are met
Raise non-conformance reports (NCRs) and support root cause investigations
Review and verify quality documentation including certificates, FAIRs, and inspection reports
Work closely with suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality issues
Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and/or industry-specific standards
Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation
The successful Mechanical Inspector will have the below skills & experience:
Proven experience in a quality inspection role within a mechanical manufacturing environment
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
Hands-on experience using measurement equipment (e.g. calipers, micrometers, gauges)
Understanding of quality standards such as ISO9001 (or AS9100 desirable)
Experience raising and managing non-conformances
Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
