Our client, a highly respected National Children and Young Person’s Charity, is looking to recruit a Counsellor to join their specialist Cumbrian based Emotional Health and Well Being Services.
The service provides individual and group therapy work to children and young people aged 5 to 18 (and up to 25 if have SEN) having trouble with their mental health and emotional well-being. You will be supporting clients with Tier 2 Mental Health needs including anxiety, bereavement, attachment disorders and family breakdown).
They work in using a person-centred approach and encourage the use of a range of methods and tools to best fit the child(ren) including play, art, drama and integrative approaches.
Role Synopsis:
Managing a caseload of children and young people in Cumbria – working with them using remote/ virtual platforms from home
You will be working with children and young people with Tier 2 Mental Health needs and offering between 6 to 8 sessions
Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with external agencies to best support the child/ young person
Liaising and engaging families as appropriate to ensure the needs of the child/ young person are met
Attending various multi-agency meetings including SEN, CORE Group and Child Protection
Initiating and supporting the EHAT (Early Help Assessment Tool) process in response to the levels of need for families and multi-agency working
Overseeing safeguarding and making safeguarding referrals as and when required
Essential Requirements:
Must hold a psychological qualification to diploma level or above (this can include Counselling, Art Therapy, Play Therapy etc)
Member of a Recognised Professional governing body (e.g. BACP, PTUK. HPCP, UKCP)
Minimum 100 hours supervised practice
Proven track record of working with children and young people
