Material Planner

Office Location: Oxford
Sector: ManufacturingWe are seeking a Material Planner to join a global leader in advanced manufacturing, helping clients by providing high performance components and scalable production solutions.

We are now seeking an experienced Material Planner to play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of production by securing the timely availability of materials while optimising inventory levels. This role supports both NPI and serial production environments, balancing demand, supply constraints, and operational priorities. The Material Planner collaborates cross-functionally with Procurement, Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure material flow supports business objectives, cost targets, and delivery performance. The role requires strong analytical capability, ownership of material planning processes, and a proactive approach to resolving shortages, improving supplier performance, and maintaining data integrity within ERP/MRP systems.

Key Responsibilities of the Material Planner

Develop and maintain material plans aligned with production schedules and demand forecasts
Ensure material availability to support uninterrupted production
Monitor and manage material shortages, excess, and obsolescence risks
Support inventory accuracy through cycle counting and root cause analysis
Balance demand variability, lead times, and capacity constraints
Maintain optimal inventory levels in line with stock policies and working capital targets
Maintain accurate planning parameters within ERP/MRP systems
Track and report KPIs related to material availability and inventory performance
Collaborate with Procurement and suppliers to manage lead times and delivery performance

About You

Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Strong understanding of MRP principles and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)
Previous experience in material planning, supply chain, or production planning
Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
Experience with inventory optimisation and planning tools
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
