Role Description: The PMO Analyst supports the effective delivery of programmes and projects across a government department or public sector organisation. The role ensures that governance, reporting, planning, and assurance processes are consistently applied. The PMO Analyst provides data analysis, supports risk and issue management, maintains project documentation, and enables informed decision making by senior stakeholders. They help maintain standards, improve delivery capability, and ensure alignment to organisational objectives and public sector regulations.
Essential Skills:
. Supporting the development and maintenance of programme and project governance frameworks
. Producing high quality reports, dashboards, and performance metrics Collecting, validating, and analysing project data (financials, risks, milestones, dependencies)
. Coordinating risk, issue, change, and dependency management processes Monitoring progress against plans and highlighting exceptions or variances
. Maintaining project documentation and ensuring compliance with audit requirements Facilitating meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and tracking actions
. Supporting business case development and benefits management Ensuring adherence to public sector standards such as Cabinet Office, IPA, or departmental guidance
. Experience developing or maintaining PMO tools, templates and processes
. Strong analytical skills and ability to use digital tools for data collection and analysis
. Clear communication skills to provide guidance and support to project team
