In this important role, you will be at the heart of the home, helping to create a safe, comfortable, and pleasant environment for the people who live here. You will be responsible for ensuring that the premises and grounds are maintained to a high standard, supporting both the wellbeing and safety of residents, visitors, and staff. This role is ideally suited to someone who is people-focused and takes pride in creating supportive environments. You will play a key part in enabling residents to live as freely and independently as possible through effective maintenance and upkeep of the home. As part of your role, you will be expected to follow all company policies and attend mandatory training, including training focused on supporting people living with dementia, as well as key areas such as privacy, dignity, inclusion, diversity, and equality.

Responsibilities and Duties

Review the maintenance log at the start of each day, addressing required repairs or coordinating with engineers/service agents as needed, with approval from the Home Manager.
Conduct all required safety and maintenance checks on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis (e.g., water temperature monitoring, legionella prevention, etc.).
Understand and adhere to the home’s emergency procedures, including fire safety and gas leak protocols.
Maintain designated equipment (e.g., Vent-Axia fans) as assigned by the Home Manager, ensuring all records are kept in line with company guidelines.
Perform basic electrical safety checks on equipment, including visual inspections of plugs and cables for damage, ensuring labelling is correct and legible. Report any faults to the Home Manager and Electrical Contractor.

Skills, Qualifications and Abilities

Relevant experience in building maintenance.
Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations, including COSHH and risk assessment procedures.
Proactive in sharing ideas to improve processes and efficiency.
Willingness to learn and continuously improve performance.
Willing to go the extra mile to ensure a high standard of service.
Experience within a care home environment.
Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office and internal applications; with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
