The Role
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for driving supplier quality performance through effective containment actions, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and third-party inspection providers, you will ensure robust quality controls are maintained to support uninterrupted production.
Key Deliverables
CSL inspection plans with defined entry and exit criteria
Supplier quality reports and trend analysis
Chargeback documentation and supplier performance tracking
Accurate documentation of daily inspection activities
Key Responsibilities
Manage supplier quality concerns and monitor supplier performance through KPIs including PPM and NCRs
Implement and manage CSL1 and CSL2 containment activities to protect production
Develop containment plans, inspection processes, and corrective actions based on root cause analysis
Lead structured problem-solving activities using methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone Analysis
Coordinate third-party inspection and sorting activities where required
Manage supplier chargebacks and ensure accountability for quality issues
Escalate supplier risks and support mitigation plans to minimise business impact
Produce regular reports detailing supplier performance, quality trends, and CSL status
Essential Skills & Experience
Previous experience in a supplier-facing quality engineering role within the Automotive, Aerospace, or a similar manufacturing environment
Strong understanding of quality tools and methodologies
Working knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and Control Plans
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications
Experience using metrology and inspection equipment
Strong analytical skills with experience using Histograms, Trend Charts, PPM, and Defect Rate analysis
Proficient in ERP systems, Quality Management Systems, and Microsoft Office applications
Desirable Qualifications
Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality Management
IATF 16949 certification
