CNC Machinist (Heavy Engineering)

Location: Wakefield
Salary: £17-£18ph
Shift: Days - early Friday finish (37 hour week)

Metalis are working with a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in Wakefield who are looking to add an experienced CNC Machinist to their Machining team.

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with experience operating CNC and manual machines within a heavy engineering environment. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for producing high-quality components in line with manufacturing routes, engineering drawings, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Operate CNC Milling and manual machines safely and efficiently.

Ensure machining operations are completed in line with approved manufacturing routes and quality standards.

Interpret engineering drawings and geometrical tolerances accurately.

Use manual measuring equipment to inspect and verify component quality.

Carry out routine machine checks and ensure equipment is maintained and lubricated appropriately.

Report defective or out-of-calibration measuring equipment.

Use lifting and transportation equipment safely and correctly.

Who Would Be Suitable

Apprentice-trained Mechanical Engineer.

Previous experience operating CNC Milling machines within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometrical tolerances.

Knowledge of CNC programming.

Ability to use manual measuring equipment confidently.

Ideal Background

Experience operating horizontal machining centres with Fanuc controls.

Experience working with Heidenhain controls.

Background within heavy engineering manufacturing.

Time-served machinist with CNC programming knowledge.

Experience producing large or complex engineered components.

What's on Offer

£17-£18ph

8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday, with half an hour lunch break

8am to 1pm, Friday

33 days holiday per annum.

Additional birthday holiday.
