About the Role
Destination Education is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to work within a range of welcoming primary schools in Walthamstow and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children's learning and development while making a meaningful difference in the classroom.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and support staff to help pupils engage with their learning and reach their full potential. A key part of the role will involve providing 1:1 support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them access the curriculum, build confidence, and develop both academically and socially. You may also support small group interventions and assist in creating an inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.
Key Responsibilities
Provide classroom support to teachers and pupils across the school.
Deliver 1:1 support for pupils with SEN, adapting activities to meet individual needs.
Assist with small group interventions to support learning and development.
Encourage pupil participation, confidence, and independence.
Help prepare classroom resources and learning materials.
Support positive behaviour management strategies.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo's, and other support staff.The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children in a school or educational setting.
Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN is highly desirable.
A patient, caring, and adaptable approach.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
