Job Title: HGV Mechanic

Location: Newark

Salary: £49,000 - £52,000 + Overtime

This is a varied HGV Mechanic role working across Scania, Volvo and DAF trucks, trailers, diagnostics, MOT preparation, repairs and occasional fabrication support within a modern, well-equipped workshop.

You’ll join a busy and experienced garage team where no two days are the same, supporting a key operational site with excellent benefits, overtime opportunities, bonuses and long-term development.

As a HGV Mechanic, your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out scheduled servicing, maintenance and repair work across HGVs, trailers and associated fleet vehicles.

• Completing safety inspections and MOT preparation work to ensure vehicles meet VOSA, MOT and company standards.

• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults across trucks and trailers.

• Supporting wider workshop activity, including breakdown repairs, trailer modifications, fabrication support and tyre fitting when required.

• Maintaining accurate updates on work completed while keeping the workshop clean, safe, organised and compliant with health and safety standards.

As a HGV Mechanic, you will need:

• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 qualification in HGV repair, servicing or a closely related discipline.

• Practical experience working on HGVs, trailers or heavy commercial vehicles, ideally including Scania, Volvo or DAF vehicles.

• Strong attention to detail when completing inspections, repairs, MOT preparation and documentation.

• The ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.

• Good communication skills with the ability to work well as part of a busy, experienced workshop team.
