Job Title: Deputy Children’s Manager
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (dependent on experience)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Children’s Manager to support the effective running of a children’s residential service in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual who is committed to improving the lives of children and young people, ensuring they receive the highest standard of care, support, and safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day management of the children’s home
* Lead, supervise, and motivate staff to deliver high-quality care in line with regulatory standards
* Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed, promoting the welfare and protection of children at all times
* Assist in care planning, risk assessments, and placement planning for young people
* Monitor and maintain compliance with Ofsted regulations and quality standards
* Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence
* Support staff development through training, supervision, and performance management
* Build positive relationships with children, families, and external professionals
* Manage incidents effectively and ensure appropriate reporting and follow-up
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of the service
Requirements:
* Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Level 5 preferred or willingness to work towards)
* Proven experience working with children and young people in a residential setting
* Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and Ofsted requirements
* Leadership or supervisory experience within a care environment
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties
* Full UK driving license
