The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Building Controller / Technical Clerk to support a major commissioning and construction programme within a highly regulated environment. This is a shift-based role combining operational building control responsibilities with document control and technical administration support.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe site operations, maintaining accurate project records, and supporting commissioning activities through effective document management and administration.

Shift Pattern
This role operates on a rolling shift pattern:

4 x 12-hour day shifts
4 days off
4 x 12-hour night shifts
4 days offDay Shift: 06:00 – 18:00
Night Shift: 18:00 – 06:00
Weekend working is included within the shift rotation.

Key Responsibilities
Building Controller Duties
Act as the primary point of contact for building access and occupancy management during shift hours.
Manage building access arrangements and associated communications.
Coordinate contractor sign-in and sign-out activities.
Monitor personnel numbers within designated work areas and communicate occupancy information as required.
Support emergency preparedness activities, drills, and exercises.
Act as deputy during emergency situations when required.
Maintain and complete operational records and safety documentation.
Manage and coordinate respiratory protective equipment inventories.
Undertake First Aider and Fire Warden responsibilities where qualified.
Ensure compliance with site safety procedures and operational requirements.Technical Clerk Duties
Produce, maintain, and control commissioning and project lifetime records.
Support document control activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Scan, copy, archive, and distribute project documentation.
Upload and maintain records within electronic document management systems.
Retrieve documentation and records as requested by project personnel.
Maintain document registers and ensure information accuracy.
Support commissioning, engineering, and project teams with administrative requirements.
Assist with reporting, filing, and general project administration activities.Essential Requirements
Previous experience within a document control, technical administration, commissioning support, or project support environment.
Experience managing controlled documentation within an engineering, construction, manufacturing, energy, or regulated industry setting.
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Good attention to detail and record management capability.
Experience using electronic document management systems.
Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
IOSH Working Safely qualification or equivalent.Desirable Experience & Qualifications
Experience supporting commissioning activities on major projects.
Knowledge of document control systems such as SharePoint or other EDMS platforms.
Building Controller or similar operational control experience.
First Aid qualification.
Fire Warden training.
Experience working within highly regulated industries including nuclear, defence, energy, pharmaceutical, or process environments.
