Marine Build & Service Technician (Bespoke projects)

Havant, Hampshire | Permanent, full time (37.5 hrs/week) | Circa £45k DOE

The opportunity

We're working with a well-established marine engineering and manufacturing business to find a Technician for their custom build and service team.

This is a hands-on, varied role helping to rebuild a specialist team that delivers bespoke work for high-end marine and superyacht clients. These customers want their boats out on the water on demand and money is no object - so it suits someone who can think on their feet, solve their own problems, and keep several jobs spinning at once.

The role You'll build, test, service and commission low-volume mechanical, hydraulic and electrical assemblies - thrusters, winches, windlasses, captives and associated hardware - working from technical drawings through to final sign-off. The work is a mix of bespoke new builds, strip-downs, refurbishments and fault diagnosis, with some international travel for installations, commissioning, warranty visits and superyacht regatta support.

About you

A hands-on, methodical builder who takes ownership and can work things out independently
A marine field service or navy/military marine engineering background would suit well - heavy mechanical, hands-on work with some electrical and hydraulics
Happy being customer-facing and working at the docks; a good fit for someone in field service who wants less time away at sea
Familiar with boats and the marine industry, and comfortable in a fast-moving, reactive environment
Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and attention to detail
Confident reading engineering drawings and working across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
Physically up for it - there's lifting and manual work involved
Nice to have

CNC and lathe experience - a real plus, as the kit is on site and some custom work calls for it
Experience and qualifications

Demonstrable industry experience in an engineering and/or marine environment across build, service and quality would be ideal.
Hands-on Mechanical build/ service experience. Ideally Hydraulic and/or Electrical too.
They're happy to train up any areas where you're lighter, so being well-rounded and willing to learn matters more than ticking every box
