O'Neill & Brennan are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor on the delivery of a major new-build education project in Buckinghamshire.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile scheme, supporting the construction of a modern educational facility from the current phase through to February 2027.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Engineer and Project Manager, you will be responsible for setting out, quality assurance, technical support, and ensuring construction activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Setting out for various construction packages, including groundworks, structures, and external works.
Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with design drawings and specifications.
Managing and maintaining accurate site records and as-built surveys.
Conducting quality inspections and supporting the implementation of QA procedures.
Coordinating subcontractors and assisting with technical queries on site.
Supporting the delivery team with progress monitoring and reporting.
Assisting in the preparation and review of site documentation, including ITPs and work packs.
Promoting and maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.
Liaising with site management, design teams, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project delivery
Requirements
Proven experience working as a Site Engineer on major construction projects.
Previous experience working for a main contractor is preferred.
Experience on education, commercial, healthcare, or public sector projects would be advantageous.
Competent in setting out using robotic total stations and GPS equipment.
Strong understanding of quality assurance procedures and construction processes.
CSCS Card (essential).
SMSTS or SSSTS desirable.
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team.
Full UK driving licence.
