We are recruiting for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a warm, welcoming, and highly supportive independent SEN secondary school in Coventry. This small specialist setting provides a nurturing environment for young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, where strong relationships and individual support are at the heart of everything they do.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve success both in and out of the classroom.
The Role
Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and confidence.
Support teachers in delivering tailored learning activities.
Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
Assist students in developing social skills, resilience, and independence.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
What We're Looking For
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs is desirable.
A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
Ability to remain positive and adaptable in a dynamic school environment.
