We're working with a leading global tech organisation looking for a strong hands-on Java engineer. This role is focused on core backend coding, problem-solving, and clear communication.
Key info
* Contract: Initial 3 months, with a strong likelihood of 6-9 months extension
* Start date: ASAP
* Day rate: £540
* Inside IR35
* Hybrid: Manchester (2 days per week in the office)
Requirements
Strong Java + Spring Boot fundamentals
Ability to write clean code from scratch (no AI tools)
Hands-on experience with AWS/CDK
Exposure to cloud migration projects
Confident working in collaborative environments (pair programming / team problem solving)
Strong communication skills (ability to clearly explain your thinking)
Desirable
Basic Node.js or frontend interaction
Interview Process
You will complete a live pair programming exercise where you will:
Write Java/Spring Boot code from scratch
Clearly talk through your approach while solving problems
Work collaboratively with another engineer
No AI tools allowed during the exercise.
