Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Primary School)

Location: Chester
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Temporary (until Summer holidays) with potential extension into September
Hours: Full-time (term time only)

Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Chester. This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils’ learning and development in a nurturing and inclusive environment. The role is initially until the Summer holidays, with the possibility of continuing into the new academic year in September.

Key Responsibilities

Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons across the primary curriculum
Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning and provide targeted support
Assist in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
Support pupils with additional needs, ensuring inclusive practice and equal access to learning
Help prepare classroom resources and learning materials
Supervise pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes, and school activities where required
Contribute to the assessment and tracking of pupil progress
Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents

Requirements

Previous experience working in a primary school or with children (essential)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A patient, flexible and proactive approach
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and wellbeing
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
