Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Provide on-site technical support and engineering advice to clients under the Customer Support Agreement.
Monitor and maintain equipment performance to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards.
Diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly to minimise downtime and maintain client satisfaction.
Plan and coordinate routine and preventative maintenance activities in line with manufacturer guidelines and contractual requirements.
Undertake root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in accordance with company and client policies.
Collaborate with supply chain and engineering teams to procure necessary parts and services efficiently.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on equipment performance and suggesting enhancements.
Ensure all work complies with relevant health and safety legislation and company policies.
Communicate effectively with clients, providing clear updates on work progress and technical matters.
Participate in regular review meetings with clients and internal stakeholders to discuss performance and service improvements.
Required Qualifications
Recognised engineering qualification at Level 3 or above, such as a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) or equivalent.
Valid health and safety certifications relevant to site activities, for example, CSCS card or equivalent.
Education
Minimum of a Level 3 qualification in engineering, electrical, mechanical, or a related discipline.
Additional training or certification in control systems, instrumentation, or specific equipment is advantageous.
Experience
Proven experience working as a Resident Engineer or in a similar role within engineering support services.
Experience delivering support under Customer Support Agreements or service contracts.
Strong track record in fault diagnosis, maintenance planning, and implementation of corrective actions.
Experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably within South West England.
Knowledge and Skills
In-depth technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems relevant to the client’s equipment.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals accurately.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise effectively with clients and internal teams.
Competence in using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
Higher National Certificate (HNC) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering or related discipline.
