Senior Payroll Specialist (Part-Time)

Pay: Up to £34,000 per year (Pro-Rata)

Location: High Wycombe, HP13 5SQ

Hours: 16 hours per week (flexible)

We have an opportunity for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our finance team based at our Head Office in High Wycombe on a part-time basis. You will work closely with the Payroll Manager, ensuring the smooth and accurate processing of monthly payroll for approximately 600 employees.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining payroll checks and balances, supporting compliance with UK payroll legislation and providing cover for the Payroll Manager when required, processing payroll independently in their absence.

Key Responsibilities:

· Carry out detailed payroll checks, reconciliations, and balances to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance

· Process starters, leavers, contractual changes, overtime, bonuses, allowances, deductions, and statutory payments accurately within payroll deadlines

· Ensure compliance with HMRC legislation, pension auto-enrolment requirements, and company policies

· Support the management of pensions, benefits, and payrolled benefits in kind

· Prepare and submit payroll-related reports and information as required

· Respond to payroll-related employee queries professionally and confidentially

· Assist with payroll audits and reconciliations, maintaining accurate payroll records

· Identify opportunities for process improvements and support the maintenance of payroll systems and procedures

What are we looking for?

· Minimum 5 years’ payroll experience

· Proven experience processing payroll for a workforce of 500+ employees

· Strong working knowledge of Sage 50 Payroll or similar software

· Exceptional understanding of UK payroll legislation, pensions, and HMRC requirements

· Ability to work independently and manage payroll deadlines confidently

· Excellent communication and organisational skills
