Quality Engineer - Major Infrastructure Project
📍 Somerset (Full-Time Site Based)
💷 Up to £277/day PAYE or £376/day Umbrella (DOE) - Inside IR35
📅 Contract until December 2026 initially, with a strong likelihood of extension
We're currently seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join a major UK infrastructure programme on a long-term contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring quality standards are maintained across one of the country's most complex and high-profile engineering projects.
The Role
As a Quality Engineer, you'll support the delivery of quality assurance and quality control activities across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning phases. Working closely with project teams and supply chain partners, you'll help ensure quality requirements are effectively implemented and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Support the implementation of project quality arrangements and processes
Assist with Project Quality Control Plans (PQCPs) and quality assurance programmes
Support manufacturing surveillance activities and inspections
Assist with Non-Conformance Report (NCR) management and close-out activities
Monitor quality performance and contribute to reporting and metrics
Work closely with project teams and supply chain organisations to drive quality improvements
Analyse quality data and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
About You
We're interested in speaking with candidates who have:
✅ Significant experience within a Quality Engineering, QA/QC or Quality Assurance role
✅ Experience working on major engineering, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing or construction projects
✅ Strong understanding of quality assurance, quality control, compliance and governance processes
✅ Experience interfacing with project teams, suppliers and subcontractors
✅ Ability to analyse data, produce reports and communicate recommendations effectively
✅ HNC/HND or Degree qualification in an Engineering or Scientific discipline (or equivalent experience)
Highly Desirable
Experience working within the nuclear sector or other highly regulated industries
Knowledge of welding, NDT/NDE and inspection processes
Understanding of pressure systems, codes and standards
Professional quality qualifications or membership of relevant professional bodies
Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies
