TPF Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a growing and well-established accountancy practice in Farnham that is looking to recruit a Bookkeeper to join its friendly and supportive team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with around 1–2 years of bookkeeping experience who is looking to develop their career within accountancy practice. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a varied client portfolio and have the opportunity to develop their skills in bookkeeping, VAT and management accounts preparation.
The Role
As a Bookkeeper, you will work closely with a range of owner-managed businesses and SME clients, supporting their day-to-day financial requirements and ensuring accurate financial records are maintained.
This is a varied role that will provide exposure to bookkeeping, VAT compliance and management accounts preparation, alongside ongoing training and development opportunities.
Key responsibilities will include:
Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for a varied portfolio of clients
Processing sales invoices, purchase invoices, bank transactions and journals
Performing bank, control account and balance sheet reconciliations
Preparing and submitting VAT returns
Assisting with the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts
Working with cloud accounting software including Xero and other digital accounting platforms
Supporting clients with bookkeeping queries and software-related questions
Assisting with year-end account preparation processes
Ensuring client deadlines are met and work is completed accurately and efficiently
RequirementsThe Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will likely have:
1–2 years of bookkeeping experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice environment
AAT studies underway or a desire to pursue an AAT qualification
Experience using Xero or other cloud-based accounting software
Good understanding of bookkeeping principles and double-entry accounting
Experience preparing VAT returns
Exposure to management accounts preparation would be highly advantageous
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
