Main job:
Manage mechanical installation, testing, and commissioning on an Energy-from-Waste (EfW) plant new build, ensuring project delivery on time, budget, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead mechanical team: Manage engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors installing plant (boilers, turbines, conveyors, pumps)
2. Planning & progress: Develop and track mechanical milestones, resource plans, and method statements
3. Quality & compliance: Ensure install meets design specs, UK regs (BS EN, PED, PUWER), and safety standards
4. Coordination: Interface with civils, electrical, process, and client teams
5. Cost & reporting: Monitor budget, forecast, and report progress to PM
6. Commissioning support: Oversee mechanical system handover, punch lists
7. Safety lead: Enforce site rules, PTW, and mechanical hazards
Requirements – UK 2026
- Quals: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equiv. CEng/IMechE a plus
- Experience: 5-10 years managing mechanical construction on complex industrial/M&E projects
- Skills: Project management, MS Project/Excel, reading P&IDs, problem-solving
- Certs: CSCS gold card, SMSTS, confined space if needed

- AM: Review progress, toolbox talks, chase materials
- Work: Site inspections, witness tests, interface meetings
- PM: Reports, risk logs, plan next day
