Senior Data Engineer

Duration: 12 Month initial Contract
Location: Galway, hybrid, 1 week per month onsite
Rate: Up to €550 per day

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support the data initiatives and strategic objectives of the Asset Management Strategic Advisors business. In this role, you will be responsible for data analysis, Oracle database development, ETL design and implementation, testing, deployment, and the application of engineering best practices. The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex data challenges, improving data quality, and delivering innovative, scalable solutions that support business stakeholders.

Required Expertise
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development.
  • Strong data analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven experience with SQL and PL/SQL performance optimization and tuning.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
Technical Skills and Experience
  • Strong understanding of logical data modelling and relational database design principles.
  • Experience with ETL and data integration processes; Informatica experience is preferred.
  • Exposure to AWS cloud services, Data API development, Snowflake, and Python is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and practices is beneficial.
  • Experience with Git, Jenkins, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Exposure to financial services, investment management, or related domains is a plus.
  • Experience working within Agile teams and collaborating across geographically distributed teams is desirable.

  • Deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable data solutions that meet both business and technical requirements.
  • Promote and apply engineering best practices, including test-driven development, code reviews, design reviews, Oracle execution plan analysis, and CI/CD processes.
  • Independently design and implement complex technical solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, positive, and team-oriented approach while maintaining ownership of individual deliverables.
