Maintenance Engineer - Up to £40 per hour
Location: Middleton
Shifts: 3‑week rotational pattern - 6-2 / 2-10 / 10-6 (nights)
Rate: Up to £40 per hour (depending on experience)
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to support the reliability, performance, and safety of plant and equipment within a busy block foam manufacturing environment. This role is electrically biased, with a strong focus on planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fault finding.
Key Responsibilities
Planned Maintenance
Perform scheduled PPM on production machinery, control systems, and site utilities.
Inspect, test, and maintain electrical systems including motors, drives, PLCs, and instrumentation.
Ensure all maintenance activities are completed on time and accurately logged in the CMMS.
Identify and implement reliability improvements to reduce downtime.
Reactive Maintenance
Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and diagnose electrical faults.
Support production teams to restore operations safely and efficiently.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Continuous Improvement
Contribute to maintenance strategy development and long‑term reliability planning.
Support equipment upgrades, modifications, and new installations
Drive improvements in safety, performance, and operational efficiency
Key Skills & Experience
Electrically qualified (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
Experience in manufacturing or process industries (chemicals/foam advantageous)
Strong electrical fault‑finding skills across:
PLCs and control systems
Motors, drives, electrical distribution
Ability to work effectively across both proactive PPM and reactive maintenance.
