Maintenance Manager
Job Summary
Provide leadership and technical oversight for all maintenance activities within a high-hazard process facility, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operation of safety-critical systems, plant, utilities, and infrastructure. Develop and deliver risk-based maintenance strategies that optimise asset performance while meeting regulatory and commercial objectives
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop in-house and contracted maintenance teams, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, performance, and competency.
Manage all planned shutdowns and major outages, including planning, budgeting, contractor management, execution, and close-out.
Direct maintenance response to emergent work and asset issues, ensuring effective prioritisation and communication.
Oversee maintenance strategy, asset integrity, reliability improvement, and lifecycle planning
Manage maintenance budgets, contracts, stores, and critical spare parts inventories
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards, including COMAH, PSSR, DSEAR, ATEX, PUWER, Electricity at Work Regulations, and functional safety requirements
Maintain and assure the integrity of safety-critical systems, including ESD, PSD, Fire & Gas, and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
Lead technical assurance activities, engineering reviews, audits, and safety-critical documentation management
Own and continuously improve the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), maintenance records, procedures, and reporting processes
Develop and maintain maintenance procedures, technical standards, and work instructions aligned with industry best practice
Lead root cause investigations, reliability improvement initiatives, and asset performance monitoring
Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and constructive challenge
Qualifications & Experience
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional accreditation
Significant maintenance management experience within a high-hazard process industry such as oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, LNG, or similar
Strong knowledge of asset integrity, maintenance management, reliability engineering, and regulatory compliance
Experience planning and delivering major shutdowns and outages
Proven experience implementing and managing CMMS systems and maintenance data governance
Technical expertise across mechanical, electrical, process, and/or control & instrumentation disciplines
Familiarity with Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) and/or Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) methodologies
Experience with gas storage, transmission, or distribution assets desirable
NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent safety qualification desirable
