About the Role

Long Term Futures are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Haringey to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support two pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within a Year 1 classroom.

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping both pupils access learning, develop social and communication skills, and engage positively with their peers. This is a highly interactive role where you'll be expected to actively participate in classroom activities, provision-based learning, and play, ensuring the children remain engaged and supported throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities include:

Providing tailored support for two pupils with ASD within a Year 1 classroom
Supporting learning through structured activities and continuous provision
Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation using school-based strategies
Assisting pupils with transitions throughout the school day
Developing social communication and interaction skills
Working closely with the class teacher and SEND team to implement interventions and support plans
Engaging pupils through play, creativity, and practical learning opportunities
Promoting independence, confidence, and participation in classroom lifeAbout the School

The Ideal Candidate

Has experience supporting children with ASD, SEN, or additional learning needs
Is warm, engaging, and confident building positive relationships with young children
Has high expectations and a proactive approach to supporting learning and behaviour
Enjoys working within EYFS and Key Stage 1 environments
Can actively engage children through play and provision-based learning
Is willing to learn and implement SEND interventions and strategies
Demonstrates strong professionalism, reliability, and teamworkApplications are welcomed from candidates with degrees or backgrounds in psychology, speech and language, youth work, mental health, childcare, education, or other related fields relevant to SEN support.
