Special Needs Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs Primary School

TradeWind Recruitment is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive special needs primary school in Stretford. This is a full-time opportunity to work with pupils who have complex learning needs, helping them to access education, develop independence, and achieve their individual potential.

The school caters for primary-aged pupils with a range of complex needs, including severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism spectrum condition (ASC), and associated communication and sensory needs. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting pupils both in the classroom and through personalised learning activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with complex needs.

Assist with the delivery of tailored learning programmes and interventions.

Support pupils with communication, social, emotional, and sensory needs.

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals.

Assist with personal care where required.

Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in learning.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (SEN), particularly complex needs.

A patient, caring, and resilient approach.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

Experience supporting pupils with autism, SLD, PMLD, or communication difficulties is highly desirable.

A relevant qualification in education, childcare, health and social care, or SEN support would be advantageous.
