Summary:

We are recruiting for a Transport Manager to lead a busy 3PL transport operation, managing a fleet of 38 Class 1 vehicles in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for delivering a safe, compliant and efficient transport function, while driving service performance, cost control and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will hold a CPC, be highly confident using transport systems and data, and be able to turn operational insight into effective decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

You will take ownership of the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring legal compliance, service excellence and operational efficiency across the fleet.

Manage the transport operation for a fleet of 38 Class 1 vehicles within a fast-paced 3PL environment.
Ensure full compliance with operator licence obligations, DVSA requirements, driver hours, Working Time Directive and company policies.
Lead, coach and support drivers and transport colleagues to maintain high standards of safety, service and performance.
Oversee vehicle compliance, maintenance planning, defect reporting, incident management and fleet security.
Monitor transport KPIs, analyse operational data and produce clear reports to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
Investigate accidents, incidents and infringements, implementing corrective actions to reduce repeat issues.
Work closely with internal stakeholders and customers to ensure service levels are achieved in line with operational and commercial targets.

Experience:

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced transport professional with strong operational leadership skills and a clear understanding of compliance in a commercial fleet environment.

Previous experience in a Transport Manager or similar leadership role within a fast-paced logistics, distribution or 3PL operation.
A valid CPC qualification is essential.
Strong knowledge of transport legislation, fleet compliance, driver hours and operational best practice.
Confident user of transport management systems, compliance platforms and Microsoft Office, with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to use data to improve service, cost and operational performance.
Excellent communication and people management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across the operation.
