Fortress Recruit is working with a leading defence engineering organisation to appoint a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to their team in Poole.
This role provides the opportunity to play a key part in the design, development and validation of advanced electronic systems used in mission-critical defence applications.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing and developing high-quality electronic hardware solutions in line with project and quality standards
* Producing electrical schematics, PCB layouts, engineering documentation, test plans, and bills of materials
* Supporting the full product lifecycle, from requirements capture and concept development through to certification and production
* Working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure products are designed for manufacture, reliability, maintainability, and safety
* Participating in prototyping, validation, testing, troubleshooting, and technical reviews throughout the development process
* Liaising with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to establish technical requirements and provide technical support
* Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and driving engineering best practices across projects
* Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the team
What we’re looking for:
* Degree qualified in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electronic hardware design and development
* Strong knowledge of schematic capture and PCB design using CAD tools such as Altium
* Experience with communication protocols including I2C, SPI, RS485, CAN, and Ethernet
* Understanding of product safety, compliance requirements and product lifecycle management
* Experience with risk management, RCCM methodologies, FMEA, and ALARP principles
* Ability to produce and review comprehensive technical documentation
* Eligibility for SC Clearance (5 years' UK residency with no visa or sponsorship requirement)
