Secondary SEND Teacher (KS4) | 4 Days per Week | Specialist School | September 2026 Start
Monday – Thursday | Experienced SEND Teachers Required | MPS up to M6 Preferred
Horizon Teachers are delighted to be working exclusively with a highly respected specialist school in South East London to recruit an experienced Secondary SEND Teacher for a part-time position starting in September 2026.
This rewarding role will focus primarily on Key Stage 4 learners with a range of special educational needs, including autism and speech, language and communication difficulties. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a highly personalised curriculum that equips pupils with the knowledge, confidence and practical skills they need for life beyond school.
The school is recognised for its nurturing ethos, strong leadership and commitment to helping every young person achieve meaningful outcomes. Learning is carefully tailored to prepare pupils for greater independence, further education, employment and community participation.
The Role:
Secondary SEND Teacher (4 days per week, Monday to Thursday)
Teaching predominantly Key Stage 4 pupils, with occasional Key Stage 3 lessons as required
Delivering a specialist curriculum including:
ASDAN accredited programmes
Humanities Pathways
Preparing for Adulthood curriculum
A small amount of Religious Education
Planning, preparing and assessing lessons for allocated classes
Teaching small groups of pupils with a range of SEND needs, including autism
No form tutor responsibilities
Working collaboratively with experienced teaching assistants and specialist staff
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Previous experience working within a SEND setting
Proven teaching experience within UK schools
Confidence delivering engaging, differentiated lessons to pupils with additional needs
Excellent communication skills and fluent English
A passion for supporting young people to develop independence and life skills
The ability to build positive relationships and maintain high expectations for all learners
Experience beyond ECT level (this role is not suitable for Early Career Teachers)
