Knitwear Designer - High Street Fashion Retailer

London

An established and successful high street fashion retailer, renowned for its timeless menswear and womenswear collections, is seeking a talented Knitwear Designer to join its growing Design team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced designer with a strong background in womenswear knitwear to play a key role in shaping future collections.

Reporting directly to the Head of Design, you will be responsible for the design and development of knitwear ranges, working closely with the wider Design, Product and Merchandising teams. Taking ownership of your product area, you will drive the creative direction of the category, ensuring collections are trend-led, commercially relevant and aligned with the brand's vision.

Key Responsibilities:

· Design and develop commercially successful knitwear collections across womenswear.

· Research seasonal trends, yarns, stitches, techniques, colour palettes and trims to create innovative and customer-focused ranges.

· Produce detailed technical packs and specifications for supplier development.

· Work closely with Product teams throughout the development process, attending fit sessions and reviewing samples to ensure quality and fit standards are met.

· Manage product development in line with critical path deadlines.

· Liaise with overseas suppliers and factories regarding yarn sourcing, sampling, garment construction and production issues.

· Collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Buying, Merchandising and Technical teams to deliver commercially successful collections.

About You:

· Previous Knitwear Design experience at Designer, Senior Designer or equivalent level within a premium, lifestyle or high street fashion brand.

· Strong technical knowledge of knitwear construction, yarns, gauges and manufacturing techniques.

· Proven experience creating detailed technical packs and design specifications.

· Experience working closely with overseas factories and suppliers throughout the development process.

· Excellent understanding of garment fit, construction and product development.

· Strong commercial awareness combined with a keen eye for trends.

· Excellent communication and presentation skills.

· Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Office.
