Working Pattern: Full‑time, Hybrid – Office based in Essex
The Role:
We are seeking a Lead Bid Writer to play a pivotal role in developing and delivering high‑quality, compelling tenders across a growing and ambitious organisation. This role sits within a centralised bid function and offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex public‑sector submissions while influencing how bid processes evolve through innovation and technology.
You will work closely with operational, commercial, and technical teams to produce persuasive, compliant bids that clearly articulate value, quality, and delivery excellence. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who combines strong traditional bid skills with an interest in modernising and enhancing how bids are produced.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the development, writing, editing, and review of high‑quality bid submissions from start to finish.
* Develop a deep understanding of client requirements, tender documentation, and organisational capabilities to produce tailored, compliant responses.
* Coordinate bid activities, including managing inputs, timelines, reviews, and version control.
* Produce clear, compelling written content covering experience, methodology, mobilisation, and delivery.
* Review and quality‑assure bids produced by colleagues, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and adherence to standards.
* Support continuous improvement of bid content, templates, libraries, and knowledge management systems.
* Contribute ideas toward improving bid efficiency through innovation, automation, and emerging technologies, including AI‑enabled tools.
* Support knowledge‑sharing, mentoring, and best practice across the bid team.
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience in bid writing within a public sector or regulated environment, with a strong success rate.
* Strong understanding of public sector procurement processes, frameworks, and competitive tendering.
* Excellent written, editorial, and proofreading skills with exceptional attention to detail.
* Ability to manage multiple bid deadlines while maintaining quality under pressure.
* Confident working collaboratively while also able to take ownership of deliverables.
* Interest in innovation, digital tools, and improving how bid teams operate.
Qualifications Required:
* Demonstrable experience in bid writing, tender management, or procurement.
* Professional bid qualifications (e.g. APMP) desirable, or a willingness to work towards accreditation.
