CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire
Salary: Up to £45,000 + Benefits
Type: Full-Time | Permanent

Syntech Recruitment are partnering with a highly regarded precision engineering manufacturer to recruit an experienced CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator.

CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator Responsibilities

*

Program, set and operate CNC milling machines safely and efficiently

*

Produce precision-machined components from engineering drawings and technical specifications

*

Programme and machine complex parts on 3, 4 and 5-axis CNC milling machines

*

Create setup sheets and tooling documentation to ensure repeatable manufacturing processes

*

Carry out online programming using Heidenhain controls

*

Inspect and verify own work using a range of measuring equipment

*

Manufacture components to tight tolerances, typically around 20 microns

*

Machine large-scale components up to approximately 2.5 metres in size

*

Support colleagues through knowledge sharing and training where required

*

Maintain a safe, organised and efficient working environment

*

Contribute to continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives

*

Ensure quality standards are achieved through a right-first-time approach

CNC Milling Programmer / Setter / Operator Requirements

*

Previous experience programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines

*

Strong Heidenhain control experience is essential

*

Experience with 3, 4 and 5-axis machining

*

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

*

Experience producing components to tight tolerances

*

Competent using measuring and inspection equipment

*

Previous experience with Doosan, Matsuura or Mazak machinery advantageous

*

Experience machining large components beneficial

*

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

*

Positive attitude with excellent communication skills

*

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

*

Apprenticeship-trained engineer preferred but not essential
