Junior Product Design Engineer
Job Description
• Support the design and development of new products from concept through to production
• Create and maintain accurate 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings
• Assist in the development of prototypes and product testing activities
• Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective to produce
• Participate in design reviews and contribute innovative ideas for product improvements
• Produce technical documentation including specifications, bills of materials, and test reports
• Assist with engineering change requests and product modifications
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, specifications, and company procedures
• Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders throughout the product development process
Junior Product Design Engineer
Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications
• Degree in Product Design Engineering, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
• Ideally a First-Class or 2:1 degree classification
• Experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or similar
• Good understanding of product development processes and engineering principles
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable
• Placement year, internship, or graduate project experience within a manufacturing or product development environment
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles
• Experience with prototyping, testing, and product validation activities
• Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems
