Hours – 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday – Thursday
Early finish Fridays
Our client, based in Kingswinford, is looking to add a skilled and mechanically minded Mechanical Build / Fitter to their growing team. Working closely with the Manufacturing Manager, you will ensure machines are built to specification and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
• Mechanical assembly and fitting of machinery, equipment and sub-assemblies
• Working from engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation
• Installation of hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication systems
• Integration of mechanical components and third-party equipment into larger assemblies
• Identifying and reporting build or component issues to the relevant departments
• Supporting equipment installation, servicing and upgrades at customer sites when required
• Carrying out inspections and quality checks throughout the build process
• Using workshop machinery and hand tools safely and effectively
• Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes
• Supporting project planning activities and contributing to efficient build schedules
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and workplace safety
• Undertaking additional engineering and production support duties as required
Skills & Experience
• Previous experience in machine building, mechanical fitting or equipment assembly
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fluid power schematics
• Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding ability
• Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Excellent attention to detail and quality standards
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills and a professional approach
• Flexible attitude towards overtime and occasional travel
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Valid passport and willingness to travel when required
Desirable
• Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ or equivalent)
• Experience within bespoke machinery, special purpose machinery or capital equipment manufacturing
• Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles
• Experience operating workshop equipment, lifting equipment or forklift trucks
• Problem-solving and continuous improvement experience
