Lead mechanical integrity across a major UK manufacturing site

Wolviston Management Services is proud to be working in partnership with TIOXIDE to recruit a Responsible Mechanical Engineer for their Greatham site.

This is a senior engineering leadership role where you will help ensure mechanical, civil and structural assets are designed, installed, commissioned, maintained, inspected and operated safely, reliably and in line with UK legislation, site standards and recognised engineering best practice.

As part of the Site Engineering Leadership Team, you will play a visible role in mechanical engineering strategy, asset integrity, compliance, engineering standards and long-term asset life planning across a complex upper-tier COMAH manufacturing environment.

What you’ll be doing
You will:

Lead the site strategy for mechanical engineering excellence, asset integrity and asset life planning.
Ensure mechanical assets are maintained, inspected, repaired and operated in line with UK legislation, COMAH requirements, company standards and recognised engineering practice.
Act as the technical interface for mechanical, civil and structural matters with the UK HSE, specialist suppliers and the Competent Inspection Authority.
Own mechanical engineering standards, including interpretation, assurance and approvals.
Provide engineering support for asset improvement, maintenance and operation.
Assess, appoint and develop mechanical engineering duty holders.
Approve repairs and modifications involving EHS critical equipment.
Contribute to site engineering strategy, improvement plans and capital renewal plans.
Lead PSSR, lifting equipment, critical machines and machine guarding compliance.
Coordinate and participate in the mechanical engineering duty rota.
Act as the appointed Qualified Person for mechanical engineering.
Promote a values-led culture focused on safety, performance, compliance and engineering best practice. The role includes management of mechanical engineering standards, Responsible Mechanical Engineer appointment under site procedures, and responsibility for the Responsible Civil/Structural Engineer and maintenance capital expenditure budget of around £750k.

We welcome applications from people who have

A degree, or equivalent knowledge, in a relevant engineering discipline.
Chartered Engineer status, or equivalent professional engineering judgement.
Senior experience in engineering leadership within chemical, process, manufacturing or another high-hazard environment.
Experience in upper-tier COMAH environments would be beneficial.
Strong knowledge of asset integrity engineering, including fixed and rotating equipment.
Detailed knowledge of pressure systems integrity, PSSR, COMAH and relevant UK regulations.
Knowledge of mechanical integrity standards such as ASME, API or HSG.
The ability to engage, lead and influence others across technical, operational and external stakeholder groups.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams.
A commitment to high standards, safe working, inclusion, compliance and continuous improvement. We know people gain skills in different ways. You do not need to meet every point above to apply. If this role interests you and you believe you could make a positive contribution, we would welcome your application.

Why join TIOXIDE?
Join TIOXIDE to lead mechanical engineering standards, influence asset strategy and strengthen asset integrity across a major Teesside manufacturing site. You will work with experienced engineering, operations and external specialist teams in a role where your technical leadership will directly support safety, reliability and long-term site performance.

TIOXIDE is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels respected, valued and able to contribute. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, identities and experiences, including people from groups currently under-represented in engineering, manufacturing and technical leadership roles.
