Full Time: Temporary to Permanent
Salary: £29,344–£44,919
Students don’t improve their writing by doing more of it.
They improve when they’re shown how to do it properly.
As a Secondary English Teacher, you will guide KS3 and KS4 students in developing reading, writing, and analytical skills through structured and clear teaching.
Key responsibilities
Teach English Language and Literature
Develop reading comprehension and writing skills
Model structured written responses
Support students with exam preparation
Track progress and provide feedback
Maintain clear classroom routines
The classroom environment
Lessons are structured and focused
Students understand expectations
Writing improves over time
Behaviour is calm and consistent
Skills and experience
Experience teaching English or strong subject knowledge
Clear explanation and modelling skills
Strong classroom management
Organisation and planning
What success looks like
Improved written work
Greater confidence in reading and analysis
Consistent progress across students
QTS is desirable; unqualified teachers are welcome to apply, particularly those with strong English or humanities backgrounds
