Contract/Project
Telehandler Operator

Location: Amble, Northumberland

Agency: Search Consultancy (Construction & Trades Division)

Payment Terms: £21.00 per hour (CIS, Weekly Pay)

Start Date: Immediate

Search Consultancy is currently recruiting for an experienced Telehandler Operator to join a fast-paced commercial construction project based in the coastal town of Amble, Northumberland. This position offers an immediate start with a consistent run of local work for a reliable operator.

We are seeking a safety-conscious plant operator who can efficiently manage site materials, support subcontractors, and integrate seamlessly with the existing site management team.

Remuneration

CIS Rate: £21.00 per hour

Frequency: Paid every Friday, accurately and without hidden umbrella admin fees.

Key Responsibilities

Safe Plant Operation: Safely and efficiently operating a telescopic handler across varied terrain to lift, transport, and position bulk building materials, heavy components, and site equipment.

Loading & Offloading: Receiving incoming delivery wagons, checking delivery notes, and strategically offloading materials to designated storage areas to minimise double-handling.

Trade Support: Distributing essential materials (including brick packs, timber, and steelwork) to scaffolding platforms and designated work faces to ensure various trades experience zero downtime.

Daily Fleet Inspections: Conducting comprehensive pre-use vehicle checks (checking fluid levels, tire pressures, hydraulics, and safety alarms) every morning, recording findings in the site logbook, and reporting any defects immediately.

H&S Compliance: Adhering strictly to site speed limits, designated traffic management routes, and lifting plans. Working in close coordination with a vehicle banksman when visibility is restricted.

Requirements

CPCS or NPORS Certification: Must hold a valid CPCS card (Blue Competent Operator preferred) or an accredited NPORS card featuring the Telescopic Handler category.

Medical Fitness: A current and valid Safety Critical Medical certificate (Fit for Work) is mandatory for this position and will be verified prior to deployment on site.

Demonstrable Experience: A proven track record operating telehandlers on busy commercial, civil engineering, or housing developments.

Full PPE: Possession of standard 5-point site protective equipment (Hard hat, high-vis jacket, steel toe-cap boots, protective gloves, and safety glasses).

Right to Work: Valid right to work within the United Kingdom.

Why Partner with Search?

Local Continuity: This contract is based entirely in the Amble area, keeping your commute short if you are based in Northumberland or Tyne & Wear.

Reliable CIS Payments: Your timesheets are processed efficiently by our dedicated payroll desk, ensuring your money is in your account every Friday without fail.

The Search Network: Our North East construction desk is exceptionally busy. Operators who demonstrate excellent attendance, safety standards, and punctuality are systematically prioritized for transition directly onto our upcoming long-term commercial contracts in the local region.

Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age
