A Local Authority in Cheshire is seeking an experienced Senior Communications Officer to join their communications team on an interim basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for a communications professional with strong campaign, PR and stakeholder management experience to help deliver high-profile communications activity across a range of key council services and initiatives.
The Role
You will be responsible for planning, delivering and advising on complex and high-profile communications campaigns, ensuring effective engagement with residents, stakeholders and partners.
Key duties will include:
Planning and delivering strategic communications and PR campaigns
Managing multiple concurrent campaigns to agreed deadlines and budgets
Working with a wide range of internal clients and stakeholders to set measurable objectives
Evaluating campaign effectiveness and reporting on outcomes
Commissioning creative communications materials, publications and digital content
Managing reputational risks and responding to sensitive issues
Providing strategic communications advice to senior stakeholders
Supporting the development and execution of communications strategies
About You
The successful candidate will have:
Proven experience delivering communications and PR campaigns within a complex organisation
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to identify and manage reputational threats effectively
Experience commissioning creative communications products and publications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong understanding of strategic communications and how strategy translates into operational delivery
Local government or public sector experience would be highly advantageous
