At our NCHA supported living service in Shepshed, Leicestershire, you’ll support adults with complex mental health needs to build independence, stability and confidence in their everyday lives. This is a long-term supported living service, where trust, consistency and meaningful relationships are developed over time.

This is a fast-paced, rewarding and emotionally intelligent role where teamwork, resilience and values matter just as much as experience.

Please note, the service is based in Shepshed with limited public transport. Access to your own transport is desirable.

Working Hours & Shifts

This is not a 9–5 role. You’ll work flexible shifts across weekdays and weekends, including:

* 8:00am – 3:00pm

* 8:00am – 4:00pm

* 10:00am – 6:00pm

* 2:00pm – 9:30pm

What you’ll be doing

No two days are ever the same, but your role will include:

* Supporting individuals with complex mental health needs in a person-centred way

* Helping people to develop independence and daily living skills

* Supporting with routines such as medication, appointments and daily structure

* Offering practical support with cooking, cleaning, budgeting and maintaining a tenancy

* Encouraging emotional wellbeing, confidence and positive coping strategies

* Following, reviewing and contributing to risk assessments and support plans

* Working alongside multi-agency professionals, families and wider support networks

* Maintaining accurate records and following policies, safeguarding and legislation

* Supporting individuals to reduce dependency on substances where appropriate

* Responding calmly and professionally during periods of emotional distress

What really matters in this role is working as part of a consistent, supportive team; communication, debriefing and peer support are fundamental to how the service operates.

Consistency, clear boundaries and emotional awareness are essential, particularly when supporting individuals experiencing distress. You’ll need to stay calm under pressure, prioritise effectively and maintain a professional, compassionate approach throughout your shift.

Equally important is your own wellbeing, knowing how to switch off at the end of the day is key to sustaining a long and fulfilling career in support work.
