Waking Night Support Worker

📍 Bilston | Children’s Residential Care | Full-Time

Are you someone who can bring calm, consistency, and reassurance during the most vulnerable hours of a young person’s day?

We’re recruiting for a Waking Night Support Worker to join a therapeutic children’s residential service based in Bilston, supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs within a small, relationship-led environment.

This provider has built a strong reputation for delivering trauma-informed residential care using a therapeutic PACE approach, focused on helping young people feel safe, understood, and emotionally supported. The homes are designed to provide stability, structure, and positive outcomes for children who may have experienced significant trauma, placement breakdowns, or complex life experiences.

Night support is a hugely important part of that journey.

This role is about far more than supervision — it’s about being a steady, trusted presence during the night, helping young people feel secure, emotionally regulated, and cared for in a safe home environment.

The Role

As a Waking Night Support Worker, you’ll work as part of a close-knit therapeutic team supporting young people overnight within the home.

Responsibilities will include:

* Maintaining the safety and wellbeing of young people throughout the night

* Conducting regular welfare checks and safeguarding monitoring

* Supporting children who may struggle with sleep, anxiety, emotional distress, or night-time dysregulation

* Creating a calm, nurturing, and structured home environment

* Completing detailed nightly records and handovers

* Supporting with household tasks to ensure the home is prepared for the day team

* Responding professionally and calmly to incidents or emergencies

* Building positive, therapeutic relationships with young people

* Working closely with the wider care team to ensure consistency of care and routines

About You

We’re looking for people who are:

* Calm, resilient, and emotionally intelligent

* Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people

* Able to remain professional during challenging situations

* Comfortable working independently overnight

* Strong communicators with good written record-keeping skills

* Experienced within children’s residential care, SEMH, fostering, youth work, education, or similar settings

Desirable Experience / Qualifications

* NVQ Level 3 in Children & Young People (or working towards)

* Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties

* Understanding of trauma-informed or therapeutic care approaches

* Knowledge of safeguarding and children’s residential regulations

What’s On Offer

* Supportive therapeutic leadership and team culture

* Ongoing training and development opportunities

* The opportunity to genuinely change young people’s lives

* A service focused on relationships, emotional safety, and positive outcomes

* Small-home environments allowing meaningful work with young people

If you’re someone who understands the importance of consistency, patience, and emotional safety during the night, this could be a fantastic opportunity to join a genuinely child-focused residential service
