About the Role

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a network of welcoming primary schools across Chester to recruit dedicated Teaching Assistants for a range of long-term roles.

We have multiple full-time opportunities available, supporting pupils across Early Years, KS1, and KS2. Roles are available for both immediate starts and the upcoming September academic year.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers to support pupils in their learning, both in whole-class settings and through 1:1 or small group interventions. You will help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all children can thrive and reach their full potential.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about education and making a meaningful difference in primary school settings.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils
Support learning across Early Years, KS1, and KS2
Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
Help manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
Encourage pupil confidence, independence, and participation
Support children with varying learning needs and abilities
Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals
Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback
Maintain high standards of safeguarding, behaviour management, and health & safety
Contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment

About You

You may have experience working with children in education, childcare, youth work, or support roles. You will be enthusiastic, patient, and adaptable, with a strong commitment to supporting children’s learning and development.

You should be confident building positive relationships with pupils and staff, and comfortable supporting learning across a primary classroom.

Essential Requirements

Experience working with children or young people
Experience within a UK school or education setting
A proactive, patient, and flexible approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to adapt within a primary school environment
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Right to work in the UK
GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent)

Desirable

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistant, Childcare, or similar
Experience in a primary school setting
Phonics or early years experience
Behaviour management or safeguarding training
